MEET RICHARD

HOME GROWN WITH ROOTS

My name is Richard Allen Addis Jr. I am a father of three: Annabelle age 7, Emmitt Age 6 and Reese age 2. I have lived in Bishopville since I was 6 months old and attended public schools in our district K-12 where I graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 2002. Below is an itemized list of the positions I have held professionally since joining the work force.

  • United States Air Force as an Electronics Warfare Technician in the Advanced Programs division 2A0X1P (2004-2010)

  • Air National Guard as a Civil Engineer with a CE Red Horse Squadron (2011-2013) .

  •  Electronics and radio technician for Wicomico County servicing the county owned public safety radio system.(2010 – 2011)

  • Wallops Island VA. NASA for LJT and Associates under the NASROC Sounding Rocket Program building rocket sub assemblies and payloads. (2011 -2012)

  • Systems Technician on the state wide Public Safety Radio System known as MDFiRST. (2012-Present)

  • First generation row crop farmer in my home town Bishopville, Md where we raise corn, soybeans and winter wheat (2011-Present)

As a first generation farmer, I always found it interesting that a vast majority of people, even here on Delmarva were unfamiliar with how farms worked or where their food came from. In late 2020, My wife and I decided to take it upon ourselves and document our farm on YouTube in an attempt to connect people with the process of farming. Our show “Shorebilly Farmer” highlighted the trials and errors of being a first generation farmer and some of the daily issues that farmers face. I look forward to serving the residents of Worcester County, not as a polished, career politician, but as a citizen leader who participates in the workforce and community I serve.
